Coming Spring 2026: “Statues of Liberty”, a brand-new, full-length documentary, releasing for free on YouTube.

The film follows human rights lawyer and CUA Center for Human Rights distinguished fellow Chen Guangcheng as he travels to California to meet revolutionary artist Chen Weiming and experience his polarizing work in person at Liberty Sculpture Park.

Chen Weiming was born in China but fled to New Zealand as the CCP tightened its grip on freedom of expression. He eventually made his way to the United States, where he founded Liberty Sculpture Park in Yermo, CA. His art memorializes the human rights abuses committed by the CCP and around the world.

Narration: Yermo is a small, dusty town in the Mojave Desert, where almost anything can exist unnoticed.

On the evening of July 23, 2021, emergency teams responded to reports of smoke. For the artist who created the sculpture, now being consumed by fire, the attack was all too familiar.
